INTOSAI Regions are IDI partners in design and delivery of capacity development initiatives. Since 2014, the IDI and INTOSAI regions have been meeting on an annual basis to discuss and agree on topics of mutual interest. This also gives IDI an opportunity to collect Region’s thoughts on IDI portfolio of programmes, IDI service delivery approach and to hear from INTOSAI Regions about their specific needs to these programmes and other areas of regional interest.
1. IDI Planning & Prioritisation Meeting with INTOSAI Regions, 1 to 3 December 2014, Oslo- Norway
In view of the tremendous needs and demands for capacity development support, the IDI introduced a selection and prioritization process to help focus on the key areas of capacity development during its remaining strategic plan period. The IDI also launched a Global Survey in 2013 to collect information about the needs and priorities of SAIs.
As one of the cornerstones of the IDI service delivery model is a needs-based approach to capacity development, in 2014 IDI met with INTOSAI Regions were global priorities were discussed and matched with the regional needs. The main output of this meeting was the creation of the IDI's portfolio of capacity development programmes for the coming years.
17 Delegates from INTOSAI Regions/ Sub Regions/ committee attended the meeting, which was held in Oslo, Norway from 1 to 3 December 2014.


2. IDI Workshop with INTOSAI Regions 2015, 14-16 September, Oslo- Norway:
In 2015, the IDI Workshop with INTOSAI Regions focused on Strategy, Performance Measurement and Reporting. This topic has been discussed in many forms with INTOSAI regions. In this regard, In July 2015, the IDI started to align and update IDI guidance and tools i.e. strategic planning handbook, needs assessment guidance, iCATS, SAI PMF etc. During this workshop, the strategic planning and management cycle was discussed. The workshop also helps to get INTOSAI Region’s feedback and to provide guidance and support to those INTOSAI Regions that have requested support for performance measurement and reporting. As an output of the workshop, the SAI Strategic Management Framework below was finalized and agreed with INTOSAI Regions. IDI also started working with INTOSAI Regions on the draft version of the Strategic Management Model for INTOSAI Regions.

During this workshop in Oslo, a total of 19 Delegates from INTOSAI Regions/ Sub Regions/ committee attended the workshop.


3. IDI Workshop with INTOSAI Regions, August 31- September 2, 2016, Oslo- Norway:
During the workshop, the IDI together with INTOSAI Regions delegates continued working on the draft Strategic Management Model for INTOSAI Regions, which started in 2015. The input gathered during this workshop resulted in the agreement of the draft version of the model as shown below.

In addition, the work done so far on the INTOSAI Competency Framework and IDI’s thoughts on programme monitoring and follow up were also shared with the Delegates. Most importantly, IDI took this opportunity to seek feedback and advice from INTOSAI Regions about strategies and challenges in the implementation of IDI programmes. Twenty four (24) Delegates from INTOSAI Regions/ Sub Regions/ committee attended this workshop.
